Welcome to Ray
Wills |
G'day - welcome to my home page. These pages were created last century and updated ever since - mostly they are up to date but some places might not be quite so!
You can also find me on LinkedIn: au.linkedin.com/in/raywills/ - and on my Facebook page.
Some current roles include:
Managing Director and owner of Future Smart Strategies - a professional services company based in Perth specialising in strategic and reputational advice to business on market opportunities, business sustainability and corporate social responsibility, government processes, and managing government and external relations and reputation. Part of that is understanding how quickly markets change, and how quickly innovations change the market. I've summarised how the World's Top 10 largest companies responding to climate change and adopting renewable energy and clean tech.
Board Member of Horizon Power, a Western Australian Government-owned Corporation responsible for energy services to regional WA.
Chair and Partner, Sun Brilliance Power Pty Ltd, a cleantech business delivering a utility scale solar project at Cunderdin.
Blue Leader for Blue by Design - a Singapore-based company that seeks to implement the vision of the Blue Economy and to bring about an alternative means of creating prosperity and abundance. We call this model Plan BE. We connect with national and global leaders in systems thinking, complexity theory, biomimicry and integrative design. We implement these ideas through vehicles such as strategic advisory, communications, finance and networking.
Adjunct Professor at the School of Agriculture and Environment, The University of Western Australia where I lecture from time to time on environmental change and climate change that includes examination of the science, the economics and opportunities of clean tech, the future impacts of global warming, the need for action, and politics of global warming and carbon.
Director, BioTek Fuels Pty Ltd, a bioenergy startup developing and applying innovative solutions for the production of foods, fertilisers, energy and treated water, from residues and wastes using integrated renewable energy plants, particularly biomass, as a fuel source.
Other roles include membership of a broad range of policy groups groups including a member of Fellow of the Australian Institute of Energy and a member of the WA Branch Committee, Advisory Board of the Curtin Institute for Biodiversity and Climate, Edith Cowan University School of Natural Sciences Environmental Course Consultative Committee; and the Fairbridge Renewable Energy Research Park Working Group.
From 2012-2014, I was a Board Member and Deputy Chair of the Sustainable Energy Association of Australia (SEA), the peak business body for the sustainable energy industries, one of the largest chambers of its kind in Australia. I was CEO between 2007 and 2012.
I was also a member of: the Ecological Society of Australia Council for 13 years including Vice President for four years, retiring from this position in 2003; Department of Resources, Energy and Tourism Energy Efficiency Skills Committee; the WA Government's High Level Stakeholder Group on Greenhouse; Deputy Chair of the WA Land Information System's (WALIS) Advisory Committee, and a member of several policy committees with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, including Deputy Chair of the CCIs Climate Change Committee.
With climate change an urgent and pressing issue that must be addressed with practical solutions, it is logical that sustainable energy will play an important role in delivering a raft of affordable and immediately accessible solutions to both reducing greenhouse emissions and providing alternative sources of energy for the world. As a professional presenter, I do a range of tailored presentations for professional and community audiences on environmental change and climate change, and on the science and economics of global warming (see here), but also on a range of other subjects - including conservation, natural resource management - another example is here.
I was recognised by Singapore-based ABC Carbon as one of the Top 100 Global Leaders in Sustainability in 2011, an honour renewed each year since.
Since 2014 I have been regularly listed by UK-based SustMeme Magazine as one of the top 100 Global Influencers in Social Media on climate change and energy, based on independent social media metrics.
In 2016, analytics firm Onalytica listed me in the Top 100 Influencers and Brands for Renewable Energy in the world, and then in 2017 similarly recognised by Onalytica for Climate Action.
If you'd like me to talk to your group feel free to contact me!
(Note I am not the actor Ray Wills who plays in Broadway, TV and movies).
And - before you read on, my new favourite proverb - After the game, the King and the pawn go into the same box. (Italian proverb.)
